Im not a big fan of Pokemon but I guess every show/product has its die hard followers out there. Here are a few of the Pokemon cars I managed to come across while trolling the net. Its great if they are all sponsored by businesses who want to get publicity, but if any fan spent good money to change their car into a pokemobile, then good luck to them once the novelty wears off.
The Driver !!!!!
This car is actually covered with pokemon cards. Yikes!
For those of you that have been thinking of purchasing the latest Prius or other more environmentally friendly cars, the cars below may not have been what you were thinking about. Astro Turf, the material used in football stadiums which is basically fake grass, has recently been patched on to various cars for various promotional or environmental gimmicks. Some use it to send a green eco message, while others use it to promote certain businesses such as a lawn mowing service. Whatever their reasons for covering their car in green rubber, they definitely catch peoples attention. Here are some pics of the different grass cars that we have come across.
This is still a classic after all this years! Watch it til the end, its just 17 seconds long. I wont say much about it except for those of you that hadn’t seen it previously, its a laugh riot. Nuff said .
MyWheels recently received a Pole Position collectors DVD set from our pals in the UK. This DVD contains the complete 13 episode run of the 80’s cartoon. The show still holds up to today’s modern toons. For those that were still babies during the mid 80’s Pole Position is cartoon about the adventures of 2 sibling stunt drivers who were recruited into being government agents, somewhat similar to Knight Rider or Viper. The opening theme was recently voted as one of the best 80’s cartoon songs. If you want a trip down memory lane, try getting a copy of this dvd, you can get it used for about $10 on ebay. Cheers!
There are hundreds of towns in middle America who have odd claim to fame exhibits, slogans, or marketing ploys to draw in tourists. Some of them are the famous Roswell New Mexico Alien Crash Site, The Superman festival in Metropolis Illinois, or the absurd toilet seat museum in San Antonio Texas. None of them compare to the wacky Carhenge in western Nebraska which is an imitation of the famous Stonehenge monument in England. Carhenge features 38 various old cars painted gray arranged in a circle just like Stonehenge.
If you live nearby or on a road trip, this might be a good spot to relax a bit and check out this work of modern art. They have an annual summer solstice event if your interested but if you have kids, this might not be the place for them to spend their summer vacation. Dont forget to purchase your very own “I was at Carhenge” T-shirt that will surely make all your snooty neighbors jealous…..or maybe not.
